Tokheim takes part in Shell’s annual Safety Day

Austin, Texas - July 12, 2017 - Tokheim, part of Dover Fueling Solutions (“DFS”), one of the largest suppliers of fuel retailing solutions, is proud to operate with a safety culture that is embedded across its business. Based on the strategic company goal of “Zero Accidents,” the Tokheim and DFS philosophy is that no accident is acceptable, and that investigation, finding the root cause, and learning from accidents is at the heart of positive change. The Tokheim Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) community ensures this belief is used to understand and learn important safety information.

Tokheim welcomes every opportunity to shine a spotlight the topic of Safety and, thus, was pleased to once again participate in Shell’s annual Safety Day, which took place May 10, 2017 in Dundee, Scotland. The themes of Shell Safety Day 2017 were: Care, Dilemmas, and Risk Normalization. Tokheim’s local teams around the world gathered to participate in round-table safety conversations lead by local leadership, group workshops, safety gamification activities and mock-accident training sessions. The key message was about making safety personal, and achieving true human engagement by nurturing an eco-system of shared responsibility and courage in the face of dilemmas.

Mark Husband, Global HSSE Manager at DFS, coordinated activities for Shell Safety Day 2017, and took part in the program of events. “The event was a great opportunity to get a large cross section of staff together to have meaningful conversations on safety,” said Husband. “The support and materials provided by Shell’s Safety Day initiative offers a unique opportunity to explore our shared safety philosophy, and allows for the continual improvement of our HSSE standards.”
