The EV Evolution: The Future of Fueling
As electric vehicles (EV) charging emerges as the new norm, gas station owners should prepare for the future. In doing so, they should consider how they might expand their c-store offerings to deliver the immersive experience consumers seek. By acting now, station owners can meet consumer demand and keep up with trends shaping the fueling industry’s future.
In a recent report, Dover Fueling Solutions® (DFS) surveyed 1,000 consumers to better understand the future state of gas stations and convenience stores. What we found might come as a surprise. Here are a few takeaways from “The Future of Fueling” trend report (to read in full, click on the link at the bottom of the article).
EV Charging Will Change Everything
With over 5% of new car sales in the U.S. now electric vehicles, we’ve passed a critical point in adoption. Based on a Bloomberg analysis of 19 countries with EV-positive trends, this figure represents a tipping point. For Gen Zers and millennials, DFS’ findings suggest that the availability of more EV-charging stations may be a key incentive to purchasing an EV in the coming years. Broader adoption over the next few years means gas station and convenience store owners must prepare now.
EV Evolution Meets an Evolved C-store
Consumers hope to visit a coffee shop, business center and more while their vehicle charges. As EV charging increases the amount of time people spend at fueling stations, how might station and store owners improve the customer experience? To better understand future expectations, DFS asked consumers to rank what would be most valuable while waiting to fuel up.
